“Historic Elections” | Go Back
The 2008 Presidential Elections are finally over with Obama taking twice as many electoral votes as McCain. With democrats dominating the Senate and the House and taking the Presidential seat, there is clearly a good chance for them to bring change. But considering the current worldwide financial crisis, energy crisis, wars, climate change and other global problems, it will take a while for the situation to recover.
What most Americans don’t understand, is that it is not just about the president in this country. Everybody is looking at Barack Obama as a savior, blaming all current problems on Bush. Yes, Bush is an idiot and the worst president in US history, but he was not the sole reason why this country is in trouble. There are many different reasons out there, but I personally blame most of the problems on the Military Industrial Complex, wars and military expenditures, an extremely bad foreign policy and insufficient control of the financial markets.
Anyway, I hope democrats will focus their efforts on economy and stay away from wars. Conflicts are heating up (especially with such countries as Russia) and if smart moves are not made within the next several years, this country will see more military action and outrageous government spending, which will bring the US down on its knees (it already has, in a way).
